About the vineyard

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Placerville, California, Cassella Vineyards sits at an elevation of approximately 1,450 feet, where the climate and hillside soils create an ideal environment for premium wine grape production.

The vineyard is dedicated to growing Barbera, a varietal well suited to the El Dorado AVA and the surrounding foothill region. The combination of elevation and abundant sunshine allows the grapes to develop intense color, balanced acidity, and rich fruit character while maintaining freshness throughout the growing season.

Our vineyard is carefully managed with an emphasis on vine health, and producing fruit of exceptional quality. Every decision—from canopy management to irrigation and harvest timing—is made with the goal of delivering grapes that express the unique character of our foothill location.

We take pride in producing fruit that showcases the distinctive character of Placerville’s mountain vineyards and contributes to expressive, balanced wines.
