About the vineyard

In the Fairplay AVA, Dorado Canyon Vineyards (established in 2000 and grounded in research, education, experience, and passion) is a biodiverse, sustainably farmed operation. Our goal is to grow the optimal quality fruit in order to enable winemakers to produce superior quality wine more easily. We offer fruit from Petite Sirah and Malbec clones (all on 110R rootstock) that thrive on our terroir. Grape flavor profiles range from cherry, black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and various combinations, depending on the season and block location(s). We offer quality, value, and a superior farming experience where your success is paramount to us. Typical, documented 'hang times' (from veraison onset to harvest) range from 60 - 80 days, which assists in maximizing fruit quality and complexity. Please contact us soon for information as we typically sell out early. 'Quality doesn't cost, it pays.'
We also would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the wine makers and wineries that we have resourced fruit to, and have won significant awards for 2025. 1) Zach Norgaard from Windwalker -- Double Gold/Best Malbec (99 points, at CA State Fair); 2) Trevor Grace from Lewis Grace Winery -- Best Petite Sirah and Best Red (from Amador State Fair). Congratulations and thank you to these amazing wine makers.
